Tyne Bridge Morris

The Tyne Bridge Morris Dancers are a women’s clog morris team that practice at Heaton Community Centre Thursday evenings 8-10pm.

Our repertoire includes traditional dances from the North West of England, Oxfordshire and others composed by the team.  These include processional dances such as Churchtown, the Great Wishford Garland Dance, hanky dances such as Runcorn and decorated short stick dances such as Goosetrey.

We are usually supported by a band of musicians playing banjo, melodeon, guitar, recorder/whistles, fiddle and drums.  They also provide interlude music.

Dancers must be women with the ability to count to at least 8 (even better 12) – we will try and teach you everything else you need to know (about our dances and possibly other things too).

Musicians can be of any sex.

Tyne Bridge is available to perform at fairs, ceilidhs and other events for a very reasonable fee.

"What they share is a passion for putting on their clogs and bells and stepping out in a spirited rendition of traditional dances" - Sharon Griffiths, The Northern Echo

"Dancing fun with bells on" - Newcastle Evening Chronicle
